With the participation of a number of Speakers and representatives of the Parliaments members of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Hassan Benomar, took part on behalf of the Moroccan Parliament in the 35th Urgent Congress of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, held on October 18, 2023, in Baghdad, the Republic of Iraq.
In his intervention before the Congress, Rep. Hassan Benomar noted the commitment of the Kingdom of Morocco to the causes of the Arab nation and its support to the Palestinian people in their struggle for the achievement of their legitimate demands. In the same respect, he expressed his deep regret and concern regarding the evolution of the situation in Gaza towards a worse state, and called for ending this suffering.
Besides, he also underscored the imperative of working on facilitating the entry of medical and food aids to civilians in Gaza and ending the war in the Strip, in a way that opens horizons for diplomatic and political action to revive the peace negotiations that must be granted real international guarantees. Rep. Benomar also noted that the strategic goal remains the establishment of an independent Palestinian State endowed with institutions and recognized borders.
The Moroccan Representative also called on Arab Parliaments to exercise their institutional and moral powers at the international level to reach these goals following the international legal resolutions.
Rep. Benomar concluded his intervention by reiterating the support of the Moroccan Parliament to the efforts of the Arab and Islamic Government organizations, including the League of Arab States and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation towards installing truce and ending the war on Gaza.
