Moroccan Delegation Responds Vigorously to Hostile Allegations against the Territorial Integrity of the Kingdom at the Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network

During his participation in the second Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network held on March 13, 2023, in Manama, Bahrain, the Head of the Moroccan delegation, Rep. Ahmed Touizi commended the pivotal role the Organization aspires to play at the international level consisting of consolidating the commitment to the principles of the Non-Aligned Movement, providing a framework for cooperation and coordination between the parliaments of the Network’s Member States, promoting parliamentary diplomacy, and widening the scope of parliamentary coordination in relation to democracy, human rights, peace, security, and sustainable development.

In his response to the allegations included in the intervention of the Algerian delegation, the representative of the Moroccan parliamentary delegation stressed the imperative that the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network remains loyal to the principles and values instilled by the founding fathers of the Movement, including the Kingdom of Morocco. He also noted that it is unacceptable that some parties are turning the Network into a space to undermine the territorial integrity of States, which contradicts the foundations of the Non-Aligned Movement and drifts away from the course of the Movement that was created in order to avoid the problems related to Cold War. On the contrary, the Network must be a space to condemn the practices of some States that use their lands to harbor and arm terrorists to jeopardize the territorial integrity of neighboring States.

Rep. Touizi concluded his intervention by noting that the success of this parliamentary Network is bound by avoiding conflicts between States, particularly those being examined by the United Nations.
