Moroccan Delegation Holds Bilateral Meetings on the Sidelines of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly in Indonesia

Within the framework of his participation at the head of the Moroccan parliamentary delegation in the 144th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, taking place in Indonesia, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi El Alami, and his entourage, with the presence of His Majesty's Ambassador to Indonesia and Singapore, held bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the Assembly, organized under the theme "Getting to Zero: Mobilizing Parliaments to Act on Climate Change.”

In this respect, the Speaker of the House of Representatives and his entourage held meetings with the Speakers of Parliaments and heads of delegations from South Korea, Egypt, France, Malta, and Bahrain. Their talks focused on the distinguished relations between the Parliament of the Kingdom of Morocco and its counterparts in these countries, based on friendship, mutual respect, defense of common interests, the promotion of cooperation and coordination in international, regional, and continental fora, namely on issues of mutual interest, and the consolidation of communication and dialogue between parliamentarians in various fora to support peace, security and stability efforts around the globe.

The talks also dealt with the developments of the cause of the Moroccan Sahara, as Mr. Rachid Talbi El Alami lauded the constant and irreversible positions of these countries in favor of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco and its sovereignty over its entire territory. Besides, the Speaker of the House of Representatives and his entourage presented clarifications on the autonomy proposal submitted by the Kingdom of Morocco as "the unique serious and credible basis for solving this artificial conflict," which the international community agrees on and supports.

In addition, the meetings also discussed ways to consolidate bilateral communication, dialogue, and consultation between the Moroccan Parliament and the Parliaments of these countries at all levels, mainly through activating friendship groups and parliamentary fora.

It should be noted that the Moroccan parliamentary delegation taking part in the IPU’s Assembly in Indonesia includes Representatives Ahmed Touizi (Chairperson of the Group of Authenticity and Modernity) and Khadouj Slassi (Socialist Group), in addition to the Councilors Kamal Ait Mik (Group of the National Rally of Independents) and Hassan Chamis (Group of Authenticity and Modernity).
