Meeting of Thematic Working Group on African Affairs

The thematic working group on African affairs held a meeting on Thursday, September 6th, 2018, under the chairmanship of Speaker of House of Representatives Habib El Malki.

The meeting is part of implementing the mechanisms stipulated in the new provisions of the House's Rules of Procedure, which stress the House's keenness to consolidate the cooperation and solidarity ties with African countries and peoples, who have become a strategic choice of the Kingdom.

During the meeting, the House's Speaker and the group members stressed the importance of the House of Representatives' contribution to the different bridges built by Morocco with African countries over the years.

The participants recalled with pride the growing high-quality level of relations between Morocco and African countries, which emanates from the determination and firm commitment of His Majesty the King to promoting and developing the South-South cooperation, and Morocco’s willingness to put Africa, to which he belongs, and its human resources, at the heart of its interests.

The participants also recalled the enlightened vision of His Majesty the King regarding Africa, which has witnessed a historical and decisive alienation from the traditional cooperation models and established a partnership that relies on cooperation and development based on creating wealth shared by all.

In their planning of the group's work programs and prospects, its members stressed the group's additional value to parliamentary work, noting the necessity to coordinate with the rest of the House bodies and respect their competences. They also affirmed the group's openness and the significance and abundance of issues and projects to which they aim to contribute in order to promote the Moroccan-African relations on the political, institutional, parliamentary, cultural, and humanitarian levels.
