The Kingdom of Morocco was elected member of three organs of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States. The election occurred during the 18th Session of the PUIC Conference, held in Abidjan on March 2-5, 2024, on the theme: "Climate change in the world: What response from the Member States?"
In addition to the PUIC's Executive Committee, the Moroccan Parliamentary Representation has earned a seat in the Standing Specialized Committee on Human Rights, Women, and Family Affairs and the Standing Specialized Committee on Cultural and Legal Affairs, and Dialogue of Civilizations and Religions.
The Kingdom of Morocco was elected to these three organs during the consultative meeting of the PUIC’s Arab Group under the 18th Conference of the Union, which features the participation of a prominent Moroccan parliamentary delegation.
Led by Rep. Najwa Koukouss (Group of Authenticity and Modernity), the said delegation comprises Rep. Mohamed Chebbak (Group of the National Rally of Independents), Rep. Khalid Chennak (Istiqlali Group of Unity and Egalitarianism), and Cllr. Khalid Setti.
In a statement, Rep. Najwa Koukouss noted that the election of the Kingdom of Morocco to the three Union organs testifies to the commitment of the Kingdom to reinforcing the Union as an effective multilateral organization within the international community.
She also added that the strong presence of the Kingdom within the PUIC shows the trust and position enjoyed by the Kingdom in the Arab and Islamic World and at the international level, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
The second day of the Conference featured the Tenth Meeting of the Standing Specialized Committee on Cultural and Legal Affairs, and Dialogue of Civilizations and Religions and the Tenth Meeting of the Standing Specialized Committee on Human Rights, Women, and Family Affairs.
The program also includes the convention of the Tenth Meeting of the Standing Specialized Committee on Political Affairs and Foreign Relations and the consultative meetings of the PUIC’s African and Asian Groups.
