The Justice, Legislation, and Human Rights Committee held a meeting on Tuesday, June 2nd, 2020, in alignment with the precautionary measures adopted in this regard. The meeting was attended by the Minister of Justice and one representative of each parliamentary group and caucus, with the participation of some deputies via videoconference. The meeting discussed “the measures taken by the Government to ensure the continuity of work within judicial administrations and the protection of human resources in courts from the outbreak of COVID-19.” The meeting also discussed “the measures taken to ensure the continuity of judicial services, and to avoid violating the inalienable rights of litigants.” In addition, the meeting discussed the “readiness of the Ministry to provide sanitary protection for litigants and actors in the judicial system after lifting the sanitary lockdown and resuming the activities of courts.”
The Minister provided answers to the different questions raised by deputies. He also recalled the Royal and Government directives in this regard, and the national and international context that dictated these measures. Besides, the Minister highlighted the aims of these measures to protect the various professionals and people in contact with the judiciary, and their results.
