On International Day of Solidarity with Palestinian People, Speaker of House of Representatives Affirms that Morocco under Leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, President of Al-Quds Committee, Considers Palestinian Cause a Central One

Speaker of House of Representatives Habib El Malki highlighted, in a statement on the International Day of Solidarity with Palestinian People, celebrated on November 29 of each year following the UN resolutions, that Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, President of Al-Quds Committee, as Government, people, and Parliament, has always considered the Palestinian cause a central one in its policy, approach, rationale, conscience, positions, and commitments, and will remain so in the future.

Mr. El Malki noted that the aforementioned UN resolution was not arbitrary, but a recognition of a concrete reality and factual history, and acknowledgment of a population that exists in geography, history, and the human and civilizational memory. He also noted that Palestine is an observing member within the UN and that the Palestinian flag flies high at the entrance of the UN headquarters in New York and the other UN buildings amongst other world countries flags.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives highlighted that on this day in 1947, the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted an unfortunate decision of dividing Palestine. In this respect, he stated that the "more unfortunate fact is that the Palestinian people have never enjoyed the part allowed to them by the UN resolution." He also stressed that this situation is not acceptable and condemned and that "the civilized world that believes in international law and legislation will not accept the Israeli version, nor the fait accompli policy."

Mr. El Malki called for committing to the international laws, legislation, resolutions, and treaties that recognize the Palestinian State, people, and cause, including the cause of Al-Quds in its religious, spiritual, cultural, civilizational, and political aspects. He also condemned the "Israeli arrogance and resort to force and coercion, and the practice of material and symbolic oppression on our Palestinian brothers."
