Iceland: Rep. Salma Benaziz Takes Part in Meeting of the Standing Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe

The Chairperson of the Moroccan representation at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Rep. Salma Benaziz, took part on Monday, May 15, 2023, in Iceland, in the meeting of the Standing Committee of the PACE.

The meeting is part of the Fourth Summit of the Council of Europe hosted in Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland.

The participants in the meeting covered two major themes: “The Council of Europe as a key player of the multilateral architecture;” and “The Council of Europe as a pioneer of human rights protection: the new generation of rights.”

It should be noted that the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe had ratified several texts related to the Reykjavík Summit, mainly the Recommendation 2245 on values in the face of extraordinary challenges.

The Moroccan Parliament enjoys the status of partner for democracy within the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe since 2011. The Moroccan parliamentary representation takes part regularly in its activities and the Moroccan Parliament organized several seminars and conferences in cooperation with the Assembly.

The PACE is the parliamentary arm of the Council of Europe that gather 46 European States. The PACE comprises parliamentarians that represent the national parliaments of the member States of the Council.
