Speaker of House of Representatives Habib El Malki received, on Thursday, September 24th, 2020, at the House’s headquarters, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to Morocco Nikolaj Harris.
At the onset of the meeting, the Ambassador lauded the protective measures taken by the Kingdom of Morocco since the emergence of the pandemic, following the high directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, to mitigate its economic and social repercussions. He also stated that all countries, including Denmark, face the same challenges regarding the pandemic and are looking to achieve the perfect balance between the necessity to preserve their citizens' safety and reviving their economies.
As for bilateral relations, Mr. Nikolaj Harris expressed the growing interest of Danish enterprises in investing in the Kingdom of Morocco, noting, for instance, the huge investments of Danish enterprises in the Tangier-Mediterranean port development project “Tanger-Med.” The Danish Ambassador added that there had been a remarkable rapprochement and intensive concertation between the two countries in vital areas relative to the environment, addressing climate change effects, green economy, economic and social development, the exchange of experiences and expertise between government departments, and other areas.
On his part, Speaker of House of Representatives Habib El Malki noted that Morocco, considering its distinguished strategic location and the security and stability it enjoys, and besides being a gateway to African countries, offers huge opportunities that enable it to attract foreign investments.
Mr. El Malki also highlighted that Morocco is currently elaborating a new model of inclusive development that takes into consideration the achievement of social and territorial justice and aims to ensure a decent life for all citizens. The House’s Speaker also noted that Denmark's experience in this area is pioneering, which Morocco could benefit from just as much as from the other successful international experiences while taking into account the peculiarity of the Moroccan model.
