Speaker of House of Representatives Habib El Malki received, on Friday, September 4th, 2020, at the House's headquarters, the French Ambassador to Morocco Hélène Le Gal.
In this meeting, the French Ambassador stressed her country’s commitment to consolidate the Morocco-France cooperation and friendship ties, noting, in particular, the strong human ties that link the two countries, reflected by the huge number of stranded people who were repatriated to both countries, following the Coronavirus pandemic, which have so far reached 50,000 people.
Ms. Hélène Le Gal also noted that the exceptional situation emanating from the pandemic generates new opportunities for consolidating cooperation between the two countries in particular, and between Morocco and the European Union in general, considering the qualities of the Kingdom of Morocco and its significant geostrategic location. The Ambassador added that "our relations with Morocco will take an important leap forward during the upcoming period."
Besides, the Ambassador stressed the importance of solidifying the parliamentary cooperation between the two countries' legislative institutions and lauded Morocco's efforts to restore peace and stability in Libya and Mali.
On his part, Speaker of House of Representatives Habib El Malki affirmed that the diplomatic strategy of the Kingdom of Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, aims to establish peace and stability in North Africa and the Sahel, and commits to prioritizing dialogue to settle conflicts.
At the parliamentary level, the House's Speaker lauded the high quality of the cooperation and coordination linking the House of Representatives to the French National Assembly. In this respect, he commended the outcomes of the project of "institutional twinning between the two Houses," which enabled the exchange of experiences and expertise in paramount fields of parliamentary work. Mr. Habib El Malki also called for pursuing the efforts to strengthen cooperation between the two legislative institutions.
