Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs, National Defense, Islamic Affairs, and Moroccan Expatriates Committee, Rep. Nadia Bouaida, took part in the 60th Munich Security Conference, held in Munich, Germany, from February 16 to 18, 2024.
On the sidelines of this international conference, Rep. Nadia Bouaida held a series of talks. In this context, she received MP Michael Gahler, a Member of the European Parliament, the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly, and the Foreign Affairs Committee of the German Bundestag.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries in several areas. They also discussed some aspects of the European Neighborhood Policy with southern Mediterranean countries and the latest developments in the Middle East.
In this context, Rep. Nadia Bouaida pointed out that dialogue and coexistence between civilizations and religions remain the only means of achieving peace in a world experiencing a decline in understanding and a growth in radicalism. In the same vein, she highlighted the Moroccan experience in coexistence between religions down the ages.
Besides, both parties welcomed the distinguished relations between Morocco and the European Union while calling for consolidating bilateral cooperation mechanisms in areas of common interest, namely economy, security, migration, and development, to build a Mediterranean area that dignifies its citizens.
The Moroccan Representative also held talks with MP Jurgen Hardt, a member of the German Bundestag. During their talks, MP Hardt underlined the depth of relations between Germany and Morocco throughout history, adding that they had improved remarkably recently. At the same time, he praised Morocco's stability at all levels, which has made it a vital and credible partner in the Middle East and Africa.
For her part, Rep. Nadia Bouaida highlighted the development process achieved by our country under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah glorify him. In this respect, she highlighted the major development projects the Kingdom has launched, particularly those in the southern provinces, including in areas of renewable energies and other sectors encouraging investment.
The two sides agreed on the importance of working to strengthen parliamentary cooperation between the two countries and of exchanging experiences relating to the work of the Foreign Affairs Committees in the Moroccan and German Parliaments.
On the sidelines of the same conference, Rep. Nadia Bouaida held talks with MP Alicia Kearns, her counterpart from the British House of Commons. The meeting focused on ways of consolidating cooperation between the two countries' legislative institutions and the sharing of experience and expertise between their Foreign Affairs Committees.
The meeting also provided a timely opportunity for Rep. Nadia Bouaida to renew her invitation to MP Alicia Kearns to visit Morocco.
