Geneva: Moroccan Parliamentary Delegation Takes Part in the Review of the Combined 19th to 21st Reports of the Kingdom of Morocco on Implementing the ICERD on November 22-23

A delegation of the House of Representatives is taking part in the UN Review of the Combined 19th to 21st Reports of the Kingdom of Morocco on implementing the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, taking place in Geneva on November 22-23, 2023.

The parliamentary delegation includes:

-           Rep. Said Serrar, the Chairperson of the Justice, Legislation, and Human Rights Committee;

-           Rep. Hayat Oumenjouj, member of the Group of the National Rally of Independents;

-           Rep. Salek Labkam, member of the Group of Authenticity and Modernity; and

-           Rep. Fatima Benazza, member of the Istiqlali Group of Unity and Egalitarianism.

The event features the presentation and discussion of the national report of the Kingdom of Morocco before The Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, following the Kingdom's international obligations regarding human rights. It also falls within the scope of the Kingdom's positive interaction with the UN's human rights mechanisms during 2022 and 2023, following the strategic vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah glorify and assist him.

The presentation is an opportunity to share the leading experience of the Kingdom of Morocco in eliminating all forms of racial discrimination, the degree of its commitment to the UN conventions in the area, and the measures it has taken to implement the recommendations it was given on the matter and had pledged to follow up. The presentation also sheds light on the latest developments of the human rights mechanisms in our country.

It should be noted that the Moroccan parliamentary delegation takes part in the interactive dialogue with the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination as part of the official delegation of the Kingdom of Morocco, headed by the Minister of Justice.
