Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami received on Monday, November 14, 2022, at the seat of the House, the Vice-President of the Republic of El Salvador, H.E. Félix Ulloa, currently on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco at the invitation of the Head of the Government, on November 13-16, 2022, where he will meet several officials.
The talks focused on the excellence of bilateral relations and the favorable positions of the Republic of El Salvador on the Sahara issue and the Kingdom's territorial integrity. The two parties also discussed ways to strengthen parliamentary cooperation between the two countries through the institutionalization of bilateral and multilateral relations by exchanging visits and through the parliamentary friendship group, permanent communication, and capitalization on the outcomes of bilateral and plurilateral parliamentary ties, particularly the actions of the FOPREL.
During the meeting, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami commended the quality of ties between the House of Representatives and El Salvador’s Legislative Assembly, which he had visited in 2016, recalling his recent meeting with the Speaker of the Assembly on the sidelines of the 26th session of the FOPREL in Rabat. In the same regard, he stressed the importance of such meetings, efficient and continuous parliamentary communication, the exchange of views, and the sharing of experiences and expertise, especially in relation to issues of common interest. The Speaker also recalled the responsibility of parliamentarians at the national, regional, and international levels to consolidate dialogue, understanding, and coordination to address the shared challenges.
In the same respect, the Speaker of the House of Representatives added that such visits and meetings are likely to strengthen dialogue and effective communication and are an opportunity to highlight the progress made by the Kingdom, particularly in constitutional, human rights, security, energy, environmental, health and social fields, in addition to the institutional development accomplished over the past decade and the achievements of the House of Representatives, which have enabled it to occupy distinguished positions within many continental, regional, and international parliamentary bodies and organizations.
For his part, the Vice-President of the Republic of El Salvador, H.E. Félix Ulloa, commended the strong relations between the two countries and the role played by the Kingdom at the regional and international levels, reiterating the position of his country on the issue of the Moroccan Sahara. The Salvadoran Official also welcomed the constructive exchanges that marked his meeting with the Speaker of the House of Representatives and stressed the importance of parliamentary relations in consolidating the rapprochement between the countries, clarifying positions, and strengthening the bridges of permanent dialogue. In the same regard, he noted that his country aspires to exchange experiences and expertise, especially concerning legislation in the fields of economy and investment, and to get a closer look at the Moroccan model.
The meeting was also an opportunity to exchange views on consolidating bilateral and multilateral ties at various levels, in addition to the roles of parliamentarians, and to discuss several questions of shared parliamentary priority.
