Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Hassan Benomar, took part on Thursday, February 15, 2024, via videoconference, in the First Conference of Speakers of Parliaments of the Group of Friends of Neutrality, organized by the Assembly of Turkmenistan on the “Role of parliamentary cooperation in reinforcing peace and dialogue.”
On this occasion, Rep. Hassan Benomar gave an address where he praised this valuable initiative that reflects the importance granted by this friend country to the culture of peace, security, and global development through neutral mediation. He added that such an initiative would create a distinguished dialogue and be an excellent opportunity to present constructive contributions to the Group's work.
Besides, Rep. Hassan Benomar commended the choice of the theme, particularly that the Conference takes place amidst a regional and international dialogue marked with several challenges, including the financial and economic crisis, the alarming acceleration of climate change, the rise of terrorism, wars, and conflicts.
Tackling the security and political situation in the world, Rep. Hassan Benomar underscored the importance of joining the international community's efforts in this regard by adopting a comprehensive approach based on dialogue, prevention, and cooperation to address said challenges. He also noted the vital role of parliamentarians in reinforcing peace and dialogue by implementing measures to achieve global peace.
Moreover, Rep. Hassan Benomar highlighted the importance of parliamentary cooperation as an essential tool to reinforce global peace and security, mainly through proactive diplomacy, mediation, and negotiation. He also underlined the importance of bilateral and multilateral parliamentary bonds to create and preserve a constructive dialogue and establish pacific relations between the world's countries.
Rep. Hassan Benomar concluded his intervention by outlining a set of recommendations where he called for joining the efforts of the international community to entrench the culture of peace and cooperation to resolve conflicts. In the same vein, he noted the critical role of parliamentarians in the matter and called for a collective engagement to rebuild peace through a comprehensive approach based on constructive dialogue. Besides, he expressed the desire of the Moroccan Parliament to work jointly with the other parliaments of the world to strengthen the friendship and cooperation bonds with them.
Rep. Hassan Benomar also called for pursuing such initiatives that provide an opportunity to discuss timely questions and to reinforce constructive dialogue between the Parliaments of the Group of Friends of Neutrality.
