The proceedings of the 79th Session of the Executive Committee of the African Parliamentary Union kicked off with the participation of a delegation from the House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Morocco on June 21-22 in Lomé, the Republic of Togo.

The delegation includes Rep. Nadia Benzedfa (Group of Authenticity and Modernity) and Rep. Cherkaoui Znaydi (Socialist Group – Ittihadi Opposition), members of the APU’s Executive Committee.

This continental parliamentary gathering is an occasion for the representatives of the member Parliaments to meet, exchange views, and explore wide horizons for dialogue to consolidate parliamentary efforts in the African space, given the present international juncture.

According to the agenda of the 79th Session of the APU’s Executive Committee, the meeting will discuss several pivotal questions related mainly to the approval of the items inscribed on the agenda, the preparation for the 45th Session of the African Union, and the 80th Session of its Executive Committee. The participants will also tackle the political situation in several African countries like Sudan and Sahel countries. Besides, they will also ratify the report of the Session and issue the Lomé Declaration on supporting the values of peace and tolerance, and the resolution of conflicts in Africa.

On the sidelines of the Session, the Moroccan delegation will hold several talks with the participating delegations to reinforce bilateral and multilateral parliamentary cooperation.
