The Chairperson of the Morocco-South Korea Parliamentary Friendship Group, Rep. Mohamed Hiachmi, held talks on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at the seat of the House in Rabat, with the Chairperson of the Forum for Africa in the National Assembly of South Korea, Mr. Sul Hoon, who currently pays a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco.
On occasion, the Chairperson of the Morocco-South Korea Parliamentary Friendship Group lauded the quality of relations linking the two countries, noting that the Kingdom of Morocco was the first African and Arab State to entertain diplomatic ties with South Korea in 1962.
Besides, Rep. Mohamed Hiachmi reiterated the keenness of the Kingdom of Morocco to advance the cooperation relations with South Korea in various areas, especially at the economic level.
In their interventions, Rep. Hind Bennani and Rep. Seloua Demnati stressed the importance of implementing the recommendations of the last meetings that united the Moroccan and Korean parliamentarians. In the same respect, they noted that this meeting would contribute to consolidating cooperation between the two countries and encourage shared investments.
For his part, the Chairperson of the Forum for Africa in the National Assembly of South Korea called for working towards the development of commercial ties between the two countries, noting his hope that South Korea would be a partner in the development of the Moroccan economy.
At the end of the meeting, the Chairperson of the Forum for Africa in the National Assembly of South Korea delivered an official invitation to the Chairperson of the Morocco-Korea Parliamentary Friendship Group to visit South Korea.
The Forum for Africa in the National Assembly of South Korea, which involves members of the Majority and the Opposition, Government officials, and private sector actors, aims to support and reinforce ties with Africa in various areas, consolidate understanding around Africa, and propose a particular policy for the continent.
