Chairperson of Morocco-Kuwait Parliamentary Friendship Group Holds Talks with His Counterpart at the Kuwaiti National Assembly

The Chairperson of the Morocco-Kuwait Parliamentary Friendship Group at the House of Representatives, Rep. Elabbes Mrhari, received on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at the Seat of the House in Rabat, a delegation of the Kuwaiti National Assembly, currently on a visit to the Kingdom.

At the onset of the meeting, Rep. Elabbes Mrhari expressed his joy and honor at receiving the Kuwaiti delegation. He also seized the opportunity to extend condolences to the Kuwaiti people following the death of the State's Emir Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, commending  in the meantime the smooth transition of power.

The Chairperson of the Morocco-Kuwait Parliamentary Friendship Group praised the leading Kuwaiti model in the field of liberties, democracy, and openness to all political components. He also praised the democratic political atmosphere characterizing the Kuwaiti National Assembly.

The Moroccan side also thanked their Kuwaiti counterparts for the noble positions of their country regarding our national cause, as the Kuwaiti diplomacy has displayed supportive positions in favor of the Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara, in addition to its position regarding the Palestinian cause.

For his part, the Chairperson of the Kuwait-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group, MP Hamad Mohammed Al-Matar underscored the depth of the Morocco-Kuwait bilateral relations since independence. In his statement, he also extended the heartfelt condolences of the Emir, Government, and people of Kuwait to the Kingdom of Morocco following the earthquake that struck the Al-Haouz region last year.

MP Hamad Mohammed Al-Matar also tackled several questions that reflect the depth of the historic relation between the two countries, lauding the role of His Majesty King Mohammed VI as Chairperson of Al-Quds Committee in supporting the Palestinian cause.

Besides, MP Hamad Mohammed Al-Matar reiterated the unwavering position of his country in support for the Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara and the Moroccan autonomy initiative, noting that his country fully supports the Kingdom's rights in this matter.

During the same meeting, the two parties discussed several questions, including investment. In this regard, the Kuwaiti part underscored the imperative of intensifying investments between the two countries and taking concrete measures in the field, particularly as regards simplifying procedures.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the head of the Kuwaiti delegation invited the members of the Morocco-Kuwait Parliamentary Friendship Group to visit the Kuwaiti National Assembly, with a view to reinforcing talks and advancing parliamentary ties towards broader horizons.

The meeting featured the presence of the members of the Group: Rep. Nadia Touhami, Rep. Hayat Laaraych, Rep. Ismail Barhoumi, Rep. Omar El Baz, and Rep. Aicha El Koute.

The Kuwaiti delegation included, besides the Chairperson of the Group: MP Fahad Abdulaziz Al-Masoud, MP Mohammed Hameedi Al-Omairi, MP Saoud Abdulaziz Al-Raqam, and the Ambassador of Kuwait to Rabat, H.E. Abdullatif Al-Yahya.
