Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs, National Defense, Islamic Affairs, and Moroccan Expatriates Committee at the House of Representatives, Rep. Nadia Bouaida, held talks on Thursday, May 05, 2022, with the Chairperson of the Foreign Policy Committee at the Romanian Chamber of Deputies, Ms. Biró Rozália-Ibolya.
The talks, which were held via videoconference, focused on the means to consolidate cooperation between the two Committees to give new impetus to parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.
On this occasion, Rep. Bouaida highlighted the solid and excellent relations between the two friendly countries as they have been reflected throughout history. In the same respect, she added that this meeting is just the start of several other talks shortly, both in Rabat and Bucharest.
Rep. Bouaida also noted that the past February 24th marked the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Romania, which reflects the depth of their bilateral ties, embodied in the exchanged visits between the officials of the two friendly countries and regulated by several economic, cultural and scientific agreements, which the two countries have been keen to develop to strengthen bilateral cooperation in a way that serves the interests of their two peoples and reinforces the friendship ties linking them.
In the same vein, Rep. Bouaida expressed her satisfaction with the quality of the bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Romania at the diplomatic and political levels. However, in the meantime, she added that economic and commercial cooperation between them is yet to meet the shared aspirations of the Moroccan and Romanian officials.
On this matter, Rep. Bouaida called the members of the Foreign Affairs Committees at the Moroccan House of Representatives and Romanian Chamber of Deputies to produce further efforts to develop the joint action between the governments of the two countries and reinforce the bridges between their businesspeople, especially in areas of mutual concern and that guarantee the interests of both parties. She also called for laying a solid ground for cultural cooperation between the active forces of the two friendly peoples.
Rep. Bouaida underscored that the political stability and democratic process that characterize the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Romania are what enhance the chances of achieving the aspirations in this respect, in addition to the human resources and natural resources the two countries have, which enable them to reach the sustainable development goals and contribute to building a balanced world based on mutual respect and fruitful cooperation between peoples and nations.
As for the question of our territorial integrity, Rep. Bouaida lauded the unchanging position of the Republic of Romania regarding this artificial conflict around the Moroccan Sahara.
