Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee Holds Talks with Chairperson of the Estonia-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group

The Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs, National Defense, Islamic Affairs, and Moroccan Expatriates Committee at the House of Representatives, Rep. Nadia Bouaida, held talks on Monday, January 30, 2023, at the seat of the House, with the Chairperson of the Estonia-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group, Mr. Raivo Tamm, currently on a working visit to the Kingdom at the head of a high-level parliamentary delegation.

During the meeting, attended by several members of the Foreign Affairs Committee, the two parties discussed the means to consolidate cooperation between the two countries and their legislative institutions, in addition to several international questions.

On occasion, Rep. Nadia Bouaida called for working on the questions of mutual concern in order to advance bilateral cooperation between the two countries, noting that the Kingdom of Morocco is committed to solving conflicts in peaceful manners that respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of States, and to avoiding interference in States' internal affairs.

Besides, the Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee called for exchanging visits between the Moroccan House of Representatives and the Estonian Parliament to consolidate parliamentary cooperation and explore the experience of each institution.

In their interventions, the members of the Foreign Affairs Committee underscored that the Kingdom of Morocco and Estonia share common values of democracy and human rights. On the same occasion, they reiterated their rejection of the latest position of the European Parliament regarding the Kingdom of Morocco, considering it a blatant interference in the Kingdom's internal affairs.

For his part, the Chairperson of the Estonia-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group stressed the importance of this visit, which would give new impetus to cooperation between the two countries who celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between them.

The meeting was attended by the members of the Estonia-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group: Mr. Sven Sester and Mr. Toomas Kivimägi.

On the Moroccan side, the meeting was attended by Rep. Idriss Chraibi, Rep. Aicha El Karji, Rep. Nadia El Kansouri, and Rep. Rifaa Maelainine.
