The Board of the House of Representatives held a meeting under the chairmanship of the Speaker of the House Habib El Malki on Thursday, March 4, 2021. The meeting was devoted to setting the agenda of the House in relation to the legislative texts covered in the extraordinary session.
At the onset of the meeting, the Speaker of the House noted the atmosphere that marked the discussion of the legislative texts on elections within the Internal affairs, Communes, Housing, and Urban Policy Committee. In this respect, he reiterated the importance of this national stage and commended the efforts of the Committee, its chairperson, bureau, and members, in laying the grounds for the meetings devoted to the discussion and vote on the Government organic bills relating to elections. The Speaker also lauded the constructive debate that marked the cooperation between the Minister of Interior and the House components.
In his statement at the opening of the Board meeting, the Speaker also shed light on the institutional maturity that prevailed during this debate and the intellectual value and sophisticated democratic spirit demonstrated by the various components of the House, which contributed to managing controversial issues, regardless of their gravity, and to elaborating an objective view of difference, being the essence of democracy.
The Speaker added that "such atmosphere generates our pride in belonging to this institution, which has proven itself through the efforts of the nation's representatives and their contribution to the overall national effort." An objective and fair analysis of the record established in this legislature in general, and particularly during the lockdown period and the state of public health emergency, shows the efficiency and significance of the approaches adopted in discussing the concerns of the nation and presenting recommendations and suggestions on their regard.
Concerning the agenda of the House, the Board has decided to convene a plenary sitting on Friday, March 5, 2021, at 4:00 p.m. to examine and vote on the following Government Organic Bills:
- Government Organic Bill 04.21 amending and supplementing Organic Law 27.11 relating to the House of Representatives,
- Government Organic Bill 05.21 amending and supplementing Organic Law 28.11 relating to the House of Councilors,
- Government Organic Bill 06.21 amending and supplementing Organic Law 59.11 on the election of the members of the councils of communes,
- Government Organic Bill 07.21 amending and supplementing Organic Law 29.11 on political parties.
