Arab Parliament: Kick-off of the Committee Meetings and Fifth Sitting of Third Session of the Third Legislative Term

A delegation of the Moroccan Parliament is taking part in the committee meetings and the fifth sitting of the third Session of the third legislative term of the Arab Parliament, taking place on June 9-10, 2023, in Cairo, the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The delegation comprises:

Rep. Mohammed Ayach (Group of the National Rally of Independents);

Rep. Khadija Hajjoubi (Group of Authenticity and Modernity);

Cllr. Mohammed El Bakouri (Chairperson - Group of the National Rally of Independents).

The agenda of the meetings of the Committees will cover several important questions in the region and its developments. They will also discuss several reference bills and the primary drafts of the reports on the political, economic, social, and human rights conditions in the Arab World. Moreover, the participants will examine the draft resolutions and special statements on the political situation in the Arab world, which will later be presented before the fifth plenary sitting of the Parliament.

The Moroccan delegation actively contributed to the meetings of the Committees. In this regard, Rep. Khadija Hajjoubi attended the meeting of the Committee on Social, Education, Cultural, Women, and Youth Affairs, as Deputy Chair of the Committee. The latter adopted a reference bill on fighting domestic violence and recommended elaborating a reference law on fighting bullying in the Arab World. On the same occasion, the Committee discussed the implementation of the creation of a fund to support Arabic in less developed Arab States, as well as the developments of the preparations to hold the conference on "Preserving social values in the Arab World," to be hosted by the Moroccan Parliament.

Rep. Mohammed Ayyach represented the Moroccan Parliament in the Committee on Legislative, Legal, and Human Rights Affairs proceedings. The Committee discussed the draft fifth report of the Arab Parliament on the situation of human rights in the Arab World for the year 2022. The Committee also examined the draft roadmap for fighting child labor, the draft vision of the Arab Parliament to address the repercussions of natural disasters on human rights in the Arab World, the notes addressed by the Parliament's Board to encourage Arab States to accede to the Convention on the Arab Arbitration Court, and the note of the Secretariat General on the resolutions of the League of Arab States at the level of the 32nd Ordinary Session held in Jeddah, particularly with regard to legislation and human rights.

It should be noted that Cllr. Mohammed El Bakkouri was elected Chairperson of the Committee on Economic and Financial Affairs, succeeding Rep. Ahmed Ched.

The Session will continue with the convention of the fifth sitting of the Arab Parliament, which will discuss the political and security developments, in addition to several social and economic questions in the Arab World.
