Accounting Board Holds Its Meeting on Wednesday, April 8th, 2020

The Accounting Board of the House of Representatives held a meeting on Wednesday, April 8th, 2020, at the House’s headquarters. The meeting was chaired by First Deputy Speaker Slimane El Amrani, with the participation of Second Deputy Speaker Mohamed Touimi Benjelloun, Accountants of the House Khalid Bougarai and Mohamed Chrourou, the House’s General Secretary Najib El Khadi, and the other concerned executives.

The meeting was devoted to examining two open requests for proposal. The Board, and considering the epidemiological situation going in Morocco, decided to cancel one of them and study its necessity further. However, the Board agreed to examine the second request for proposal in a plenary session attended by representatives of the competing firms. Also, the Board reviewed the implementation of the House’s budget for the year 2020 and studied the situation of the funds allocated to supporting the parliamentary groups and caucuses in expertise and counseling, under the House’s Rules of Procedure.

On this occasion, the Accounting Board members recalled the extraordinary situation that our country is undergoing due to the outbreak of Coronavirus COVID-19, which would have economic and financial impacts on the state’s budget. In this respect, the Board studied the means to rationalize the House’s expenditures for the ongoing year. Besides, the Board approved the proposals of its members regarding reducing the expenses relating to several budget items and limiting the expenditures to implementing the priority projects that would allow the House to fulfill its Constitutional competences and meet its financial liabilities.

On a related level, the Board stressed the importance of accelerating the digitalization at the House of Representatives and the utilization of the immense services provided by the information and communication technology to increase the efficiency of the House’s work. In the same respect, the Board expressed its support for any initiatives or projects in this regard.

Additionally, the Board decided to hold regular meetings to set the priorities of the House’s budget in conformity with the future developments in our country.
