Address of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, at AIPA's 43rd General Assembly

Your Excellency Mr President,

Distinguished ladies and gentlemen,

On behalf of the Moroccan House of Representatives, I’m most delighted to extend my highest appreciation and esteem to His Majesty the King of Cambodia, and my gratitude to the President of the Senate, the President of the National Assembly, the Prime Minister and the people of Cambodia, for their warm welcome and hospitality.

Your Excellency Mr President,

Distinguished ladies and gentlemen,

How proud we are for having joined the AIPA in September 2020 as an observer member, bridging a link between ASEAN region, Africa and the Arab world.

Despite the geographic distance, our destinies are close. So we should join positive efforts to overcome complex challenges.

It is our firm belief, that a fruitful partnership between both ASEAN's valuable assets and Africa’s promising potential would yield a mutually beneficial outcome.

From the South, for the south. 

May I also recall that the Moroccan Parliament is an active member of:

  • the African Parliamentary Union;
  • the Pan-African Parliament;
  • the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of the Mediterranean;
  • the Arab Parliamentary Union;
  • the Arab Parliament;
  • the Parliamentary Assembly of French-speaking Countries;
  • the Parliamentary Union of the Islamic Cooperation Organization,

We also enjoy the status of ‘’Mediterranean Partner’’ at the Parliamentary Assembly of NATO; and

  • The status of ‘’Partner for democracy’’ at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
  •  The European Union as member through joint commitee

 

A continental destiny, forged by the enlightening vision of His Majesty King Mohammed 6. An African strategy, one of whose main pillars is the high-level parliamentary exchange, which embodies South-South Collaboration, based on solidarity and co-development.

With such principles of openness, moderation, tolerance, multiculturalism, Morocco has become a stable regional, continental and international actor as well as a partner for the promotion of human rights, sustainable development, green  energy and South-South cooperation.

As a peace-making nation, Morocco has always lent its unconditional support to the promotion of international peace and security, along with the fight against human trafficking, extremism, terrorism, and all forms of transnational crimes.

Distinguished ladies and gentlemen,

The House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Morocco is honored to contribute to building bridges between Africa, the Arab world, and its Western partners.

Together, let’s call for a steady interaction among Parliamentarians, to cooperate for more inclusive and responsible development, for a successful South-South collaboration, for a better future of the world.
