Under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah assist him, the House of Representatives organizes on Friday, November 22, 2024, at the Seat of the House in Rabat, the First Annual Parliamentary Forum on Equality and Parity, under the theme: “The Parliament: An Essential Lever for Achieving Equality and Parity.”
The Forum falls within the scope of the strategy of the House of Representatives aimed at implementing the high Royal directives and the constitutional and legal provisions intending to promote women’s questions. The Forum also reflects the engagement of the House of Representatives through all its components in the national effort that aims to reinforce and advance women’s rights.
The First Annual Parliamentary Forum on Equality and Parity aims to institutionalize the parliamentary debate on equality and parity, pave the way for a public debate and dialogue between the Parliament and all stakeholders, and exchange experiences, expertise, and best practices in the field.
It also aims to monitor the gains of the Kingdom in the field of equality and parity, identify the challenges that must be addressed, propose the parliamentary avenues that can speed up the implementation of gender equality in Morocco, contribute to achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, and launch a debate on the assessment of the progress achieved in the area of implementing the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, to which the Kingdom acceded in 1993.
The Forum will shed light on the comparative experiences and best practices in the field through the discussion of two main themes: Empowering women and enhancing their participation in public life; and the Social public policies and the objective of achieving equality and parity.
