The two Houses of Moroccan Parliament took part in the proceedings of the 46th Conference and 82nd Session of the Executive Committee of the African Parliamentary Union, held on October 5-9, 2024, in N’djamena, Republic of Chad.

The proceedings of the Session included the discussion of an abundant agenda that included a thorough examination of the report of the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Union, the report of the Secretary-General, and the report of the Women Parliamentarians Committee on Women Affairs.
The Session also featured the discussion of the report of the Committee in charge of proposals and amendments to the Statutes of the Union, which was postponed.
As for the Committees, the Committee on Political Affairs discussed the heavy challenges restraining peace and security in Africa while focusing on the importance of engaging youth and empowering them to construct safe and stable societies. In the same regard, the Committee on Economic Affairs and Sustainable Development discussed global economic development, with a particular focus on the importance of investing in natural resources, diversifying African economies, and promoting local industries.
It should be noted that the African Parliamentary Union is a continental parliamentary organization established on February 13, 1976, in Abidjan. The Union aims to reinforce the work of parliaments in African countries and serve as a platform for dialogue between them and parliamentary cooperation in a way that serves peace, democracy, governance, and sustainable development.
