Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Rep. Salma Benaziz, Holds Talks with Chairperson of the France-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group

Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs, National Defense, Islamic Affairs, and Moroccan Expatriates Committee, Rep. Salma Benaziz, held talks on Friday, April 26, 2024, at the Seat of the House in Rabat, with the Chairperson of the France-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group, MP Karim Ben Cheïkh, currently on a visit to the Kingdom of Morocco alongside numerous Group members.

The talks between the two parties focused on the means for reinforcing cooperation between the Moroccan House of Representatives and the French National Assembly. In this respect, the two parties called for the convention of a Morocco-France Parliamentary Forum in the upcoming months.

The two parties also underscored the necessity of working on the consolidation of cooperation and the exchange of expertise between the two legislative institutions in various areas, particularly renewable energies, social protection, and housing, themes that are of significant importance to both countries.

During the meeting, the Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs, National Defense, Islamic Affairs, and Moroccan Expatriates Committee, Rep. Salma Benaziz, noted the depth of the historical ties linking the Kingdom of Morocco and France. Rep. Salma Benaziz added that this meeting is an ample opportunity to boost bilateral cooperation and address the strategic challenges within an atmosphere of mutual respect and in service of the two countries’ shared interests.

For his part, the Chairperson of the France-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group expressed his hopes that this visit would inject  further impetus into bilateral cooperation between the two legislative institutions and the partnership between the two countries, following a win-win logic.

Group members, MP Estelle Youssoufa, MP Farida Amrani, MP Nadia Hai, and MP Philipe Frei participated in the meeting on the French side.

It should be noted that the members of the France-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group visit the Kingdom of Morocco to take part in the France-Morocco Business Forum held in Rabat on April 26-27, 2024.
