Speaker of House of Representatives Receives Ambassador of Kingdom of Belgium

Speaker of House of Representatives Habib El Malki received, on Friday, September 11th, 2020, at the House's headquarters, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Morocco Marc Trenteseau.

During this meeting, both parties lauded the high-quality ties linking Morocco to Belgium on all levels, especially at the parliamentary level. They also affirmed the strong bonds that unite the two countries, reflected by the significant number of Moroccan expatriates in Belgium and their full integration within Belgian society. Besides, the two parties commended the immense coordination and continuous concertation between the two countries on mutual interest issues.

The meeting was also an occasion to exchange views on the means to counter the propagation of COVID-19. In this respect, the Belgian Ambassador lauded the proactive measures taken by the Kingdom of Morocco at the start of the pandemic to mitigate its economic and social repercussions, following the high directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

At the parliamentary level, the two parties agreed on the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in consolidating the cooperation ties between the two countries. In the same context, the House's Speaker lauded the consistency of the exchange of visits between the members of the Moroccan House of Representatives and the Belgian Federal Parliament and regional Parliaments. Mr. Habib El Malki also lauded the contribution of the Morocco-Belgium Parliamentary Friendship Group to advancing rapprochement between the two countries.
