The Moroccan Parliament will host, on May 19-21, 2022, the 26th Extraordinary Session of the Forum of the Chairpersons of the Legislative Assemblies of Central America, Caribbean and Mexico (FOPREL).
The opening sitting of the session will be chaired by the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of El Salvador and the President pro tempore of the FOPREL, the Hon. Ernesto Alfredo Castro Aldana. The sitting will feature the addresses of the Speakers of the House of Representatives and the House of Councilors, Mr. Rachid Talbi El Alami and Mr. Naam Miyara.
The Speakers of the Legislative Assemblies of Central America, Caribbean and Mexico, representatives of the Moroccan Parliament, and Government officials will discuss the means of South-South cooperation. They will also debate the perspectives of cooperation and exchange between the countries of Africa, Central America, the Caribbean and Mexico, while also presenting the Moroccan experience in the areas of migration and renewable energies.
The session will culminate in the reading and ratification of several draft resolutions inscribed on the agenda.
On the sidelines of the session, the Speakers of legislative assemblies and the parliamentary delegations representing Central America, the Caribbean and Mexico will hold a series of meetings with Moroccan officials.
It should be noted that the FOPREL was established in 1994. The Forum aims to assist the mechanisms of implementing and coordinating the laws between the member States, create consultative mechanisms between the Speakers of legislative assemblies to address the various issues arising in the region, and support the legislative studies on the regional level. The Moroccan Parliament is an observer member in the Forum since 2014.
