The Board of the House of Representatives held its weekly meeting on Tuesday, January 7th. The meeting, chaired by Speaker of the House of Representatives Habib El Malki, discussed matters relating to government control, legislation, and diplomacy.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Board members expressed their satisfaction with how went the press conference held by the Speaker of the House Habib El Malki and the Board members with national media, which witnessed the introduction of the new version of the online portal of the House of Representatives. This portal consolidates the policy of communication with the public opinion and provides introductory, documentary, and interactive services. The meeting also discussed, at its beginning, several procedural matters relating to the well-functioning of plenary sessions, and decided to prepare research papers aiming at finding collective agreement on means to their implementation.
Concerning government control, the agenda of the weekly session of oral questions, to be held on Monday, January 13th, was set to encompass economy, infrastructure, internal and foreign affairs, in addition to habous and Islamic affairs. The Board recalled the importance of reforming the system of oral questions, which the Board is currently preparing and has reached advanced stages.
As concerns Legislation, the Board briefed and conveyed the draft bill on the National Order of Pharmacists to the Social Sectors Committee, forwarded the organic law draft related to appointment to high positions to the Justice, Legislation and Human Rights Committee, and also submitted the organic law draft related to the National Council for Languages and Moroccan Culture to the Education, Culture and Communication Committee.
In addition, the Board reviewed the finalized legislative texts and decided to convene a plenary session in this regard next week.
The House’s Board deliberated on the law proposal, and commended, on this occasion, the House of Representatives and Government endeavour to the success of the monthly session allotted to them.
As regards Foreign Relations, the Board reviewed and decided to participate in the next session of the Arab Parliament, The Central American Parliament, and the conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Member States (PUIC).
