With the Important Participation of Morocco, the Geopolitical Groups of the IPU Reiterate their Engagement to Address Climate Change and Discuss Timely Parliamentary Questions

As part of their participation in the meetings of the 144th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the 209th Session of the IPU's Governing Council, and the meetings of the Executive Committee, the standing and ad-hoc committees, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Rachid Talbi El Alami and his entourage took part on Saturday, March 19, 2022, in the coordination meetings of the Arab and African Geopolitical Groups. The meetings featured the discussion of several matters scheduled for debate in the Assembly. The participants also debated the means of coordination on such matters and agreement on a unified position on their regard to stimulate joint parliamentary action at the Arab and African levels, and to promote democracy around the world.

On the sidelines of their participation in the Geopolitical meetings, the Moroccan parliamentary delegation held talks with several heads of legislative assemblies and parliamentary delegations to discuss ways to advance the relations linking the Moroccan Parliament and said assemblies. The discussions also featured the exchange of views on many international and regional questions of mutual interest.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives and Head of the Moroccan delegation is expected to give an address on behalf of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Morocco during the 144th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, held under the theme: “Getting to zero: Mobilizing parliaments to act on climate change."

The Moroccan parliamentary delegation taking part in the 144th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the related meetings, taking place in Bali, Indonesia, on March 20-24, 2022, includes Rep. Ahmed Touizi (Chairperson of the Group of Authenticity and Modernity), Rep. Khadouj Slassi (Socialist Group), Cllr. Kamal Ait Mik (Group of the National Rally of Independents), and Cllr. Hassan Chamis (Group of Authenticity and Modernity).
