His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein Ben Abdallah II launched, on Monday, September 25, 2023, Jordan’s First Cybersecurity Summit in Amman, capital of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
The Summit features the participation of a large number of presidents and heads of cybersecurity institutions, as well as political, military, and academic figures. Led by international experts, the Summit agenda includes a discussion of the growing threats to cybersecurity at national and international political, economic, and security levels. Participants will also discuss ways of dealing with these threats.
The Clerk of the House of Representatives, Rep. Ilham Saki, represents the House at the Summit, as a member of the Executive Committee of the High-Level Parliamentary Group on Technology, Innovation, and Digital Transformation of the Arab Parliament.
The Summit takes place against a backdrop of challenges facing countries' strategies in information systems security and vital infrastructure protection, requiring a review of traditional methods to keep pace with developments in cyberspace in light of the dynamics of social networks.
The Summit also provides an opportunity for exchanging experiences and expertise in the field of information systems security, and identifying the level of development of cybersecurity in a world transformed by data and information, given that the development of information and communication technologies has increased the eminent dangers to the security, stability, and values of States.
The Summit is also an opportunity to showcase Morocco's distinguished experience in the field of cybersecurity. In this respect, and as part of the meetings and talks she held with several participants, Rep. Ilham Saki highlighted the distinguished Moroccan experience in cybersecurity, adopted by our country in 2012, as well as national orientations in the field of information systems security. She also highlighted the engagement of the Kingdom of Morocco, under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God glorify him, since 2011, in advancing national competencies in the field of information systems security and strengthening digital trust.
The Moroccan Representative also pointed out that the Kingdom of Morocco has worked to develop cybersecurity by securing the information systems of public administrations and establishments and vital infrastructures against cyberattacks. In this way, the Kingdom has successfully reduced the damage caused by viruses and espionage programs.
