Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Mohamed Sabbari, Receives Iraqi Justice Minister

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Mohamed Sabbari, received on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at the seat of the House, the Iraqi Minister of Justice, Mr. Khaled Chouani, currently on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco.

During their meeting, the two parties tackled several themes linked to consolidating and reinforcing cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Iraq, particularly at the parliamentary level.

On occasion, Rep. Mohamed Sabbari noted that the Kingdom of Morocco follows with great interest the major development in the Republic of Iraq at the political and economic levels. In the same respect, he expressed his hopes of solidifying bilateral cooperation between the two countries in various areas.

In this regard, the Deputy Speaker of the House stressed the importance of working on the updating of the agreements linking the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Iraq while taking into account the peculiarities of the two countries, intending to generate benefit from these agreements for the two countries.

On the same occasion, Rep. Sabbari expressed the readiness of the House of Representatives to share its experience with its Iraqi counterpart. In the same vein, he noted that an official invitation would be soon addressed to the Speakership of the Iraqi House of Representatives to visit the Kingdom of Morocco. The visit would be an opportunity to explore areas for cooperation between the two legislative institutions on questions of mutual concern.

Besides, the two parties also covered the budgeting problem within Arab Parliaments, as they commended the Moroccan experience in this respect.

Moreover, the two parties called for coordinating the positions of the two countries in the international and regional fora.

For his part, the Iraqi Minister of Justice noted that his visit would contribute to consolidating the bilateral links between the two countries that entertain strong historical and brotherly bonds. Mr. Khaled Chouani also gave a brief overview of the Iraqi parliamentary experience since 2005.
