Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Hassan Benomar Holds Talks with British Parliamentary Delegation

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Hassan Benomar held talks on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, in Rabat, with a British parliamentary delegation currently on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco until October 14, 2022.

The British parliamentary delegation includes the Chairperson of the International Trade Committee at the House of Commons, MP. Angus Brendan MacNeil from the Scottish National Party, and MP. Mark Garnier and MP. Mike Wood from the Conservative Party.

The meeting between the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Hassan Benomar, and the British delegation covered several questions related to the consolidation of cooperation and partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United Kingdom, especially in economy, trade, and culture. At the onset of the meeting, Rep. Hassan Benomar noted that it is part of the missions of the House of Representatives under parliamentary diplomacy, which plays a major role in consolidating bilateral cooperation with States.

On the same occasion, Rep. Hassan Benomar gave a brief overview of the major projects the Kingdom has launched in the recent years under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, adding that our country has great potentials that can be a lever to advance economic and commercial cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United Kingdom, and to promote investment.

Besides, the Deputy Speaker of the House gave extensive clarifications to the British delegation on the question of the Moroccan Sahara and the autonomy plan proposed by the Kingdom of Morocco as a solution to the artificial conflict over it. Rep. Hassan Benomar also invited the British delegation to enhance the British cultural presence in our country by opening new cultural centers that would solidify the friendship bonds between the two countries and their peoples.

For their part, the members of the British parliamentary delegation stated that their visit intends to identify the achievements of the Kingdom of Morocco in economy, industry, agriculture, and renewable energies. The British parliamentary delegation also underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two countries in order to address the challenges they face and serve their mutual interests.
