Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Hassan Benomar, Holds Talks with Belizean Minister of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Hassan Benomar received on Friday, May 5, 2023, at the seat of the House, the Belizean Minister of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise, Mr. Jose Abelardo Mai, currently on a visit to the Kingdom of Morocco to participate in the International Exhibition of Agriculture in Meknes.

During the reception, the Deputy Speaker of the House expressed the strong will of the Kingdom of Morocco to reinforce and solidify the cooperation bonds with Belize, particularly at the parliamentary level. In this respect, the Deputy Speaker briefed the Belizean Official on the bicameral parliamentary system adopted by our country and the prerogatives of the House of Representatives in legislation, government control, and public policy evaluation.

On the same occasion, Rep. Hassan Benomar shed light on several areas where the Kingdom of Morocco has a leading experience, namely agriculture, water management, and renewable energies, noting that they can be the cornerstone of fruitful bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting was also an opportunity for the two parties to discuss some international questions of mutual concern. In this regard, they both stressed the importance of coordination within the continental, regional, and international parliamentary fora in a way that serves the interests of both countries.

Moreover, Rep. Hassan Benomar recalled the distinguished participation of the House of Representatives in the proceedings of the Forum of Speakers of the Legislative Assemblies of Central America, the Caribbean, and Mexico (FOPREL), given its status within the Forum as an observer member.
