As part of parliamentary diplomacy, a delegation of the Productive Sectors Committee of the House of Representatives, headed by the Committee Chairperson, Rep. Jamal Diwany, and including Rep. Mohamed Simou and Rep. Saloua Berdhi, performed a visit to the Grand International Tourism Fair in Berlin on March 6-9, 2023. The visit was an opportunity to explore closely the role of the National Office for Tourism in promoting the Moroccan destination by establishing a Moroccan Pavilion that exhibits the diversity of the different tourism destinations in the Kingdom of Morocco.
During the visit, the Moroccan parliamentary delegation received the Chairperson of the Committee on Tourism at the German Bundestag and her entourage at the Moroccan pavilion. During the meeting, the two parties discussed the best means to reinforce the Morocco-Germany parliamentary ties in a way that contributes to promoting tourism in the two countries. The two parties also exchanged views on encouraging tourism investment in the Kingdom of Morocco, particularly the addition of more flights linking the two countries.
The Moroccan parliamentary delegation also visited the pavilion of the German Tourism Confederation, where they held talks with the President of the Confederation on the future orientations of tourism and tourism product marketing in the two countries.
During the same visit, the Moroccan parliamentary delegation visited the pavilion of the brotherly Arab Republic of Egypt, where they met with the Minister of Tourism and Monuments and the Chairperson of the Committee on Tourism and Civil Aviation at the Egyptian House of Representatives. The talks of the Chairperson of the Productive Sectors Committee with the Egyptian delegation covered several questions relating to tourism. In this regard, he highlighted the potential of our country in this vital area, noting the importance of this meeting, which constitutes an opportunity to discuss the means of facilitating and encouraging tourism investment in North Africa.
On the same occasion, Rep. Diwany called for consolidating cooperation between the Productive Sectors Committee and its Egyptian counterpart, the Committee on Tourism and Civil Aviation, by exchanging visits and experiences.
On the other hand, the Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Monuments stressed the importance of this visit, noting that it would contribute to the reinforcement of the cooperation ties and complementarity between the two countries in the area of tourism investment, given the potential of the Kingdom of Morocco that enable it to be an excellent tourism destination. He also noted the importance of advancing the airlines between the two countries.
For her part, the Chairperson of the Committee on Tourism and Civil Aviation at the Egyptian House of Representatives welcomed the advancement of cooperation and consultation between the Moroccan and Egyptian legislative institutions.
