Clerk of the House of Representatives Ilham Saki is taking part in the first constituent meeting of the High-level Parliamentary Group on Science and Technology in the Arab Parliament, taking place in Cairo on March 28-29, 2022.
The participation is part of the follow-up by the House of Representatives of the activities of the Arab Parliament to consolidate the friendship bonds with the representatives of Arab peoples and deepen joint parliamentary dialogue.
In her statement during the opening session of this meeting, Rep. Ilham Saki lauded the initiative of creating a parliamentary group in charge of science and technology as a qualitative mechanism to consolidate Arab parliamentary complementarity and solidarity, to serve the brotherly Arab peoples, and to ensure the competitive conditions of Arab countries at the international level.
The Clerk of the House of Representatives also highlighted the Moroccan experience under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, in the area of elaborating national strategies, programs, and plans to support technology and digital transition in our country. In this respect, she focused on developing the national legal arsenal regulating these areas.
In addition, the Clerk shed light on the strategic plan for the Higher Education and Scientific Research Sector, which aims to advance the scientific and technical research system, and innovation; and increase the quality of training to enhance the competitiveness of scientific research at the regional and international levels.
She also noted the importance granted by the Kingdom of Morocco to innovation in the area of technology and science, which positions Morocco amongst the countries that develop and produce technologies, hence creating an economy of substantial added value.
It should be noted that the High-level Parliamentary Group on Science and Technology is the first Arab parliamentary network concerned with science and technology. The Group intends to stimulate interest in this area and establish effective complementarity between science, technology, and parliamentary action in the Arab world.
