Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs, National Defense, Islamic Affairs, and Moroccan Expatriates Committee at the House of Representatives, Rep. Nadia Bouaida, held talks on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at the Seat of the House, with the Chairperson of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence at the Assembly of Ireland, Mr. Charles Flanagan, currently on a working visit to our country.
On occasion, Rep. Nadia Bouaida commended the strength of Morocco-Ireland relations. In the same respect, she noted that this is a great opportunity to work on consolidating bilateral relations between the two countries, particularly at the parliamentary level.
During the meeting, the Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs, National Defense, Islamic Affairs, and Moroccan Expatriates Committee gave an overview of the competences and formation of the Committee, as well as the major questions that fall under its priorities, foremost among which is the question of our territorial integrity.
For his part, Mr. Charles Flanagan lauded the quality of the diplomatic ties linking the Republic of Ireland to the Kingdom of Morocco. In the same regard, he called for stimulating the parliamentary friendship groups, particularly in light of the convergence of views regarding the advancement of parliamentary cooperation.
The Chairperson of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence at the Assembly of Ireland noted that the Committee’s role takes into account the membership of the Republic of Ireland in the European Union and the United Nations. In the same vein, he underscored the serious engagement of his country in the missions aimed at preserving security and peace, achieving development, and settling conflicts through political means.
The Chairperson of the Morocco-Ireland Parliamentary Friendship Group, Rep. Latifa Aâbouth, and the Committee members, Rep. Aicha El Gourji, Rep. Nadia El Kansouri, and Rep. Rifaa Maelainine, also attended the meeting.
