The President of the Chilean Chamber of Deputies Diego Paulsen Kehr, and several ex-presidents and members of the Chilean National Congress expressed their solidarity and support for the "perfectly peaceful and successful operation performed without bloodshed or military force" by the Royal Armed Forces to open the Guergarat buffer-zone and secure the smooth movement of individuals and goods.
In the message addressed to Speaker of the House of Representatives Habib El Malki, the members of the Chilean Chamber of Deputies expressed their concern and condemnation of the “recent provocations and incitements by the Polisario in the Guergarate buffer-zone, located between Morocco and Mauritania." They also expressed their dissatisfaction with these "unilateral actions that aim to disrupt the balance of peace in the region, violate the legal and historical status of this Moroccan region, and pose a serious threat to the ceasefire.”
Besides, the President of the Chilean Chamber of Deputies and the rest of its members affirmed their “brotherly and sincere solidarity, as the two Houses have witnessed a rapprochement and harmonious dialogue in the recent years, thanks to the conviction and support of the current and previous presidents of the Chilean Chamber of Deputies and speakers of the Moroccan House of Representatives.”
The message, signed by the President of the Chilean Chamber of Deputies, was also signed by 1st Vice President Francisco Undurraga Gazitúa, ex-presidents Maya Fernandez Allende, Iván Flores García, Fidel Espinoza Sandoval, and Pepe Auth Stewart, and some members of the Chilean Chamber of Deputies, namely Deputy Jaime Naranjo Ortiz and Deputy Issa Kort Garriga.
